PAT or portable appliance testing is the inspection of electrical appliances and equipment to make sure that they are safe to use. A lot of electrical defects can be found with a visual examination but some are only discovered through PAT testing using specialised equipment. Prices from £0.79 pence per item

Thermographic Surveying – from £195

Electrical faults can lead to breakdowns and the potential for fire hazards. Thermal imaging is an extremely useful tool for electrical fault finding as it requires no contact being made with the components, which means that the components can be checked in a live state with little danger to the user. This allows us to prevent any potential damage to your electrical system before it has chance to happen.Prices from £195.

Emergency Light Testing – from £195

The Fire Precautions (workplace) Regulations 1997 state that “Emergency routes and exits requiring illumination must be provided with emergency lighting of adequate intensity in case lighting fails”. Emergency lighting test and inspection requires that every circuit supplying an emergency light is isolated to demonstrate that the internal battery in the emergency fittings keeps the exits illuminated during power failure.

It is the responsibility of all employers to ensure that these systems are suitably maintained and checked to ensure they are safe and compliant. All emergency lighting systems should now be installed, tested and inspected in accordance with BS5266-1. Prices from £195.

Periodic Fixed Wire Testing – from £195

The electricity at work regulations state that all electrical systems and equipment used in the working environment should be in a safe condition. The health and safety executive requires that to comply with the regulations an inspection and testing schedule must be implemented in all work places. The frequency of this schedule will depend on the type of environment typically either 3 years for industrial installations and 5 years for commercial installations.
